Bennet Taylor, in her twenties in New York City grieves deeply over the death of her college boyfriend Sam. She isolates herself and had lost all sense of enthusiasm or direction in life.
She gets panic attack on her first date with Henry Adams. Instead of showing anger, he offers to help her. They plan to try a new activity every Saturday in NYC. It wasn’t a date but rather a friendly meet up, where he tries to help her find back the spark of her life. They try a variety of experiences like pottery, carpentry, puppy rescue volunteering, tattooing, rappelling off rooftops, photography, ferry rides, and many more
The story is partially rooted in grief and self‑doubt. However, it also has emotional sincerity and slow‑burn chemistry between Bennet and Henry. Bennet finds herself struggling with guilt, questioning her worthiness of happiness. She doesn’t know what to do with the growing feelings that she had towards Henry. She drags him to Sam’s sister’s wedding and her unresolved hurt and grief ends up triggering Henry’s emotions.
He quotes, “You deserve to be happy Bennet, but so do I”.

Bennet starts to understand that moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting, but honoring the past while embracing the present. She confronts her internal barriers and makes meaningful decisions about her future.
The novel has the themes of grief, healing, friendship, love and self‑discovery.
