The Lore Gatherers

In “Book of Leprechauns: The Lore Gatherers” by Jonathan Uffelman, Shaun McClanahan and his daughter Molly find themselves ensnared in a perilous quest when a malevolent force threatens their very existence. As their precious gold is stolen and a sinister entity sets its sights on them, the McClanahans are thrust into an extraordinary adventure that transcends the bounds of time itself.

Transported back to ancient Rome by the whims of fate, Shaun and Molly must confront their deepest fears, reconcile with their tumultuous past, and harness the ancient magic of leprechauns to thwart the nefarious plans of their adversary. With the fate of the universe hanging in the balance, they embark on a journey fraught with danger and discovery.

Joined by unlikely allies—a poetry-writing fox and a hyper-intelligent chicken—the McClanahans navigate a world where myths and legends collide, where the fabric of reality is woven with threads of magic and mystery. As they unravel the secrets of the past and harness the power of the Book of Leprechauns, Shaun and Molly must confront their own vulnerabilities and forge a path towards redemption.

But with time running out and their enemy closing in, will their courage and determination be enough to save themselves and the universe from impending doom?

Book Reviews:

Review 1:

Book of Leprechauns starts with a brief history of lore gatherers (leprechauns) who originated in Ireland. Dorn, a leprechaun gone bad, lives deep in the Irish forest. Dorn was once the most powerful leprechaun because he had the gift of magic and knew how to master it. Now the magic is gone, and Dorn wants revenge. Shaun McClanahan and his daughter Molly live in the village of Finnegan’s Wake. They’re preparing to go to The Thieving, a ritual all twelve-year-olds have to participate in.

This ritual is performed because humans are too hungry for gold and power. The most sacred responsibility of leprechauns is to safeguard their gold. Humans are a leprechaun’s most dangerous predator. When a human catches a leprechaun, he is compelled to grant the human three wishes. Now Molly must prove her ability to hide and find gold without using magic. Will Molly pass The Thieving? With a background as rich and diverse as his, it’s no wonder he’s able to infuse his novel with such depth, humour, and heart. Read More

Review 3:

Remember when the late Jim Valvano said that any day in which you laugh, cry, and think is a good day? That’s also true of books, I think, and this one will make you laugh, has terrific genuine emotional moments, and, as a parent, really causes you to think about your relationship with your child (or children).

And it’s all woven into an adventure with some of the most unexpected characters you’re ever likely to find. Julius Cesar and an intelligent chicken in the same story? Read More

Review 4:

es, that epic ride takes place in The Lore Gatherers. And yes, it is as entertaining as it sounds.

A chicken. A fox. A missing pot of gold. A remarkable girl named Molly. And Dorker. With the freshest narrative voice I have read in a very long time (long by human standards, but probably by leprechaun ones as well), The Lore Gatherers is an instant classic. This heartwarming, hilarious, and utterly engaging story takes place in a richly imagined contemporary world full of mythology, tradition, and yes, boatloads of lore. And then it goes back in time. Review 5:

This book was engaging and so much fun to read. The characters were fully fledged and completely believable, which is in no way a given, since they are leprechauns. What a unique adventure! Their story was a charming distraction from the stresses of the real world. This would be a great gift for any age. I will happily follow this author for future releases
