Dr. Peter Leonhard Kuhn, born in 1959, is a distinguished retired professor of sports science at the University of Bayreuth and a leading figure in the field of martial arts and combat sports research. As the initiator of the “Martial Arts and Combat Sports” commission within the German Association for Sports Science, he has significantly contributed to advancing scholarly understanding of these disciplines.
A seasoned practitioner, Dr. Kuhn holds a 4th Dan in Karatedō and serves as an instructor at Taikyoku e.V., sharing his expertise and passion for martial arts with others. His commitment to sustainable sports practices led him to his current role as Chief Research Officer at sportainable, a pioneering think tank dedicated to promoting sustainability in sports.
